The T-Mobile myTouch 3G is all about personalization and customization. To help the product launch, I created these animated flash banners that featured each NBA superstar's unique passion relating to their customized phone. These Flash banners were featured on NBA.com as a homepage takeover that coincided with the launch of the television campaign.

DIRECTION

I was hired to step in and take the print direction into an animated direction that was less busy and "contained". The 3D animation was sent out for Straitface Studios to complete as I guided them with careful art direction and design support. We also opted to enter these into awards and tapped Clatter & Din in Seattle for audio explorations.

DESIGN PROCESS

I adapted the print direction of "blossom" to a motion direction and presented storyboards and static comps to stakeholders and how they would look in each ad size and on landing pages for continuity. Several shoes and brands were thrown in early on but licensing prevented us for moving forward on them.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Several concepts were given to extend the campaign a bit–the end result was always that each star NBA players persona had to live in the phone and match its context of use. The only thing that would have made these more than incredible is if we had the budget to shoot live talent to animate around.
